Charities are always in need of support. Equally though they are a source of information which we often use in teaching. Some of the larger charities will provide educational material and videos.

Oxfam A large international charity which supervises relief work in many countries

 

Cool PlanetOxfam's website for teachers. This has news posting and a newsletter.

 

Children in Need Appeal This BBC website has details about the amount of money raised in the last appeal. Lots of supporting information and an opportunity to share ideas about how to raise money.

 

UNESCO Not strictly a charity, but UNESCO conducts education and cultural programmes among the world's poor.

 

RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS

Christian Aid This is a brilliant web site packed with information. I suugest you also visit the "le@rn zone" at http://www.globalgang.org.uk/ for high-tech games and global news.

CAFOD The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development. This is a great site and show the work of the Roman Catholic Church in this field.

Let the Children Live This charity exists to improve living conditions for the street children of Colombia. It was started by Fr Peter Walters a priest from Walsingham in 1982.

Tearfund Tearfund is an international evangelical Christian relief organisation, which supports over 500 projects in 100 different countries.

Christian Children's Fund An interesting organisation founded in 1938. It is dedicated to helping chidren in need.
