Christians are those who follow Jesus Christ as God. The way in which they do this differs from one religious group to another. Here is a selection of Christian denominations or groups and they can speak for themselves.
ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY
Orthodox Church This is a useful source on Orthodox Christianity. contains good explanations about all aspects of the faith. (Sadly no pictures)
Orthodox Christianity Quite a useful page with a lot of detailed information.It is more geared towards people who wish to convert to the faith. Even so - worth a look.
Coptic Orthodox Christians Coptic Christianity is centred around Egypt. This is a useful, if slightly unusual website. Look for the link to Coptic Network Pictures The Egyptian branch of the Orthodox Church.
Orthodox Church This site describes 12 things one ought to know about the Orthodox Church. It's quite good, a bit long winded, but thorough!
ROMAN CATHOLIC
Catholic Information This site contains a lot of topical issues on the Roman Catholic Church.
Vatican Site A large site of limited use at GCSE level.
Everything Catholic Quite an interesting site. Concentrates mainly on America. Nevertheless it could be useful from time to time.

CHURCH OF ENGLAND
Church of England History This is part of the official Church of England site.
Norwich Cathedral The main website of Norwich Cathedral. It contains a useful number of links.
METHODIST CURCH
Methodist Church Organisation This is the official website of the Methodist Church. Many good links.
Paignton Methodist Church Lots of information on how a local Methodist Church works. There are some good photographs of the interior.
SALVATION ARMY
Salvation Army This is the main page of the Salvation Army's International Headquarters.
MORAVIAN CHURCH
Moravian Church The official website of the Moravian Church.
BAPTIST CHURCH
Baptist Union A fairly comprehensive site on the Baptist Church.
Teddington Baptist Church Teddington Baptist Church. A website which contains a lot of detail about church organisation. Some good photographs of baptism.
Bromley Baptist Church The site has a fair amount of detail on events happening in the church.
Stratton Green A good example of a fairly lively Baptist community.
UNITED REFORMED CHURCH (URC}
URC A large website with all that you need to know about the United Reformed Church.
SOCIETY OF FRIENDS (Quakers)
The Quakers Good information about this Christian organisation.
PENTECOSTAL CHURCHES
Elim Pentecostal Church The Elim Pentecostal movement is one of the older Pentecostal organisations. This church in Southport Lancashire was founded in 1931.
Peniel The Peniel Church in Brentwood is a very active Pentecostal community. This is a good site, really worth exploring.
Toronto Airport Church This church hit the headlines in 1994 with the controversial "Toronto Blessing". It is still around and thriving. A good site with some useful photographs. (Takes a while to load so be patient).
CHARISMATIC MOVEMENT
Charismatic movement The link here takes the form of an article on the subject in the resource "Believe." It is thorough and reliable.
WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES
World Council For an explanation of the word "ecumenical" and for a look at the way in which churches world-wide are working together.
What did Jesus look like? This is a serious study of the possibilities. It bases its conclusions on what the Bible says though rather than what we know people of Palestine at that time looked like.
Shroud of Turin A short introduction to this topic. But it draws few conclusions.

From Jesus to Christ This is an amazing site based on the FRONTLINE series. This is serious stuff, presented in an attractive manner. Search around for what you want.
Crucifixion An incredible article by a man with the name Joe Zias. He talks about crucifixion in the ancient world and shows that its roots go back a long way before Roman times.
History of crucifixion An article on the archaeology of crucifixion taken from the series From Jesus to Christ.
PLACES IN PALESTINE
Church of the Holy Sepulchre Visit the website of this most sacred Christian monument. It is reputed to be the place where Jesus was crucified and where his resurrection occurred.
Old Jerusalem Photographs This link has changed recently and one has to select Jerusalem from the menu. These are still super photographs.
Garden Tomb Some Christians believe that this is realy the place of Jesus' burial. It is believed to have been in the garden of the home of Joseph of Arimathea outside the city walls of Jerusalem.
Christians may make these holy journeys to important religious sites. Here are two examples of such sites.
Walsingham The shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham became known as "England's Nazareth"
Santiago de Compostela This international shrine dedicated to the Apostle St James, draws thousands of pilgrims each year. (When looking at this site, don't forget to click the English translation!)
In fact the Christianity owes its origins to Easter when the death and resurrection of Jesus took place, but Churches are also very full at Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Lent customs and traditions This is a Canadian firm that produces small leaflets called Pass It On.They seem to be on Christian themes. They're a bit wordy and old fashioned but sound and FREE!
