THE PHILOSOPHER'S CLOCK

Welcome to my clock page.
This is always a source of some discussion.

"Please sir, why does your clock go backwards?"
It doesn't go backwards. If you reflect upon life, you will see it the right way round!

The clock can be a wonderful resource. One can use it for discussing Plato's distrust of sense perception.
It may evoke a discussion about "time" what we mean by time going forward or backwards...timelessness...eternity...a God who is outside time. I have also used it with groups who want to discuss "the present moment"

Flog the idea to an English Department. They can use it in their lessons about our use of language. "Time drags" "time seems to stand still" "time speeds by" etc etc.

You can buy clocks like this from off-beat stores. There's a photo of one on the "Support Blog RS" page. Email me if you want one and you have trouble finding one. I can send you the name of a supplier. My thanks to David Orsborne who created this one for me.
